Real, Important World Issues
There are actually real, important world issues out there that could really use some attention and support, so I figured mentioning them is the least I could do.
I’ve become a disciple of sustainability, and most of the resources below support sustainable concepts and aspirations. If you don’t know what sustainability is, it is the idea/hope that humans, the environment, and the economy can interact together in a way that is sustainable. Frankly, we live in a society that is probably 90% unsustainable, so in the next hundred or so years we’ll be in a lot of trouble - food, energy, water, waste, economies, health, people - all in trouble.
sooooooooo….. here are some wholesome links I am always looking to support. Consider donating, but most importantly, be informed. Being aware and educating others is the easy, and it can really go a long way in changing the way we live and positively impacting the lives of those in worse situations around the world.
Kiva is a microlending organization that connects lenders with worthy entrepreneurs is third world and less developed countries. The business owners seeking loans are pre-screened and well intentioned. You can start with just tens of dollars, and loans of only hundreds of dollars can make a huge difference in people’s economic lives.
Charity navigator is an independent, third party charity rating website that helps lenders find worthy charities. After researching a charity on Charity Navigator, you can find efficient organizations that will put your money to the best use, so you have no excuse not to donate anymore.
Water Missions International is a personal favorite charity organization that I found through Charity navigator. It’s a highly rated and efficient organization that brings sustainable clean water and water systems to disadvantaged countries and people. It’s really good. Check them out.
And my favorite “real world important issues that matter” website that should have its own cable TV channel. Ted. Check it out.
