About me

The Man

Hey, I’m an 19 year old aspiring world traveler from the US’s mundane South Dakota, but I will reside in Minneapolis, MN most of the year at college where I am a sophomore. Besides my interested of traveling and the travel industry in general, I’m into sports, web publishing/development, music, finance, politics, and entrepreneurship.

His Projects

I’m a mover and a shaker when it comes to online projects. Budget Globetrotting is my main home here, but I’m also attempting to revamp and find a direction for a Cancun Mexico Blog.  I have an exciting idea for a website that will sister with this one in the backpacking niche, and I hope to have it in motion by the end of the summer.  I may need to find a partner for it though, so contact me if you’re interested please.

Big Future

I have a lot of aspirations, and I’m a thinker and a doer.  If you want to get together on projects, once again, contact me if you’re serious.

My Skills?

I speak was once fairly decent at Spanish. I wish I could learn another language. Besides that, I can design and stuff, as well as analyze/manage well.

BGT mission statement

I started this blog “to find and share budget travel ideas for my own future shoestring trips around the world” So frankly, that means that I don’t care one bit about my readers.  You know I’m kidding. I’m now hoping that Budget Globetrotting version 3.29 will more better compile and direct prospective travelers to helpful tips, resources, and news.

My Studies

I’m smart, or at least my transcript and resume can make that argument. I’m a finance major at a fairly prestigious school, so I’ll probably be A) a financial analyst at a big corporation/bank… or B) a Business mogul with some other creative entrepreneurial type company/person.

Future Travels

I’m actually getting serious about international travel now.  My budget backpacking quest for the summer of 2008 didn’t pan out unfortunately for financial reasons.  Don’t mention it please. Now I plan to do 2 of the following:

  • Winter 2008: Somewhere in Mexico / Latin America trip – I have a month off of school then. A week or two can be had in Mexico or Latin America (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, or El Salvador) for about $600 I hope. I have decent flight hookups, so I’m hoping something can happen.
  • Spring Break 2009: Somewhere in Mexico / Latin America trip — Basically the same as above. If winter doesn’t work, hopefully spring break does…
  • Fall 2009 Study Abroad: Brazil, Hong Kong, Bangkok, or Europe (if it gets cheaper) — More than likely I’ll be in Brazil or Hong Kong for a semester of school.  Lots of variables til then, but I’ve planned out my major/minor and schedule to accommodate a semester abroad.  Wish me luck.

Oh, and here’s a picture of me. For the creepers, contact me about Facebook so you can stalk me there. I’m a big facebooker, and I’ll add you for sure.
